The thread about the Mormon church attacker got me thinking about the Chicago ICE yakkety sax routine chasing the delivery cyclist.
"At least he made the trains run on time," said of Mussolini, is an excellent example of the reality of fascism. It's a mix of propaganda claiming things are better than they are, and authoritarians stampeding over people to create the illusion of progress.
Fascism creates a protected class of bullies who can ignore all the rules that slow down "progress" by ensuring things like safety, property rights, and civil rights. The move fast because they trample things, not because they are good at what they're doing.
The gravy seals at ICE are the perfect example. They're putting a lot of people in jail, but they keep getting released because they haven't actually done anything wrong. And the ICE guys in action are unprofessional and disorganized. They're not even proficient thugs.
This is exactly what Thiel and Yarvin are after with the Dark Enlightenment and cryptoanarchism. They promise that unleashing Musk from the shackles of medical and industrial safety practices will enable him to fast-track technological advancement. Like Hitler, Musk is on enough drugs to believe he's brilliant, and has the resources to fire enough wildly aimed shotgun blasts to occasionally get a hit while mostly producing powerwalls and cybertrucks.
Hegseth: "We unleash overwhelming and punishing violence on the enemy. We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement."
The effectiveness of Germany and Japan was based on lightning warfare; sudden and overwhelming force. That has a problem when supply lines stretch, and when the home resource pool wanes. The solution is conquest rules; forced labor and stealing the resources from the conquered area. It's great for Genghis Khan, but for an advanced economy with technological production requirements, it is spectacularly inefficient. Forced labor might dig ditches, but trying to get forced labor to lay down a weld bead with no flaws or machine a die set at close tolerances is completely unrealistic.
The longer the supply lines stretch, the more the conquered people become disenfranchised, the more the people at home have to stretch their rations, the harder it is to keep the economy running for the long run. Doing it for a year is entirely possible. Trying to keep it up for a decade is laughably deluded.
So my question is this: Do they know? They've obviously studied the forces of the 30's and 40's extensively. Do they know that this is not sustainable?
One of the hypotheses is that they are fully aware. They are grifting the money now, knowing that a collapse is unavoidable, then they intend to buy up all the devalued resources after the crash. There are plenty of holes in that plan, too, but it isn't particularly less stupid than thinking that conquest rule can be sustained in a technologically advanced world.
Trump: "The ones that are run by radical left Democrats -- what they've done to San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles. They're very unsafe places & we're gonna straighten them out one by one. This is gonna be a major part for some people in this room. That's a war too. It's war from within"
