Disgust

The United States is such a fountain of wealth and power that it has become an inexorable attraction for the exploitative and conniving. This is not a new thing, every superpower breeds charlatans, a word that became common in the 1600s as France rose, money became looser, and swindling more profitable.

Once a power becomes a superpower, then a corrupt superpower, there is a temptation to remain and feed on the tainted roots of power.

Those who remain are understandable, and loathsome.
